Wardrobe Guide

Don't know what to wear?

The key here is the coordinate colours, choose a colour family, and dress everyone in those tones. A color family could be  neutrals, pastels, jewel tones, earth tones.

Pick a Colour Palette

Have everyone wear  a bit of the highlight color . So if the highlight color is red, maybe mom is wearing a red neckless or scarf, maybe her little girl has a red bow to match, the little guy has a red pair of suspenders and dad is wearing a red and green plaid shirt etc.

If we are going to a field full of golden grass and glowy sunlight, you may want to consider staying in earthy or neutrals.

If we are going to a beach with greyish rocky shores then you can get away with cooler tones.

If we are doing an in-home session, then you can go cozier and more casual, with a loose tee or linen with bare feet!

Suit  the location

Tip three

Fall photos might call for rich earth tones. Summer or spring photos more pastels , and Christmas, well you know, just no ugly sweaters please.

Suit the season

Flowy materials move in the wind or when you walk, or your partner spins you! Catching that dress in flight, looks amazing in photographs.

Textures and layers are another great way to add depth to your photographs. Materials like organza, lace, suede, a bit of leather or a textured sweater are great!

When you layer on a scarf, a statement piece of jewelry, a vest and fedora style hats it deepens your images

We will be outside for an hour, so always dress for the weather. I would rather see your baby in a cozy sweater with a smile on their face, than a crying baby in a cutsie outfit.

Bold patterns such as geometric shapes, color blocking, stripes or other busy patterns can make your images look too busy and distracts from who we really want to see… you!

Bold Patterns

While I love a good bright summer dress, it doesn’t photograph well, and it also casts neon color on to skin tones. Stick to pastels instead.

Neon Colours

We want to be able to see your face, baseball caps often cast shadows on your face.

Baseball Caps

Keep your images looking timeless by steering clear of graphics and logos. It also can distract the eye away from your faces.

Graphic Tees or Logos

Everyone wearing identical shirts with jeans is a dated look. It also makes everyone melt into each other and doesn’t photograph well.

Coordinate with a colour palette instead of matching with a single colour
